CD sales benefit scholarships and Latin American businesses

2012-13 Hesston College Bel Canto Singers

The 2012-13 Hesston College Bel Canto Singers, under the direction of Bradley Kauffman, touched many audiences across the country with the program “Songs of a Wayfarer,” a moving depiction of the immigrant experience of sojourn, isolation and solace inspired by the 2012-13 common read Enrique’s Journey (Random House Trade Paperbacks, 2007) by Sonia Nazario.

The program was recorded to CD with sale proceeds being split evenly to provide student scholarships and, through Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA), assist small businesses in Latin America. Half of the proceeds will go to the Hesston College Inclusion Scholarship, which was created through the college’s ongoing work with inclusion and diversity. MEDA will use the other half to work with local partners in low-income countries to improve access to capital and markets for small and medium enterprises – often family owned – to grow their businesses and create jobs.

The Songs of a Wayfarer CD can be purchased for $15 through the Hesston College Bookstore by calling 620-327-8105 or visiting the online bookstore.
