Be Greater capital campaign secures challenge grant

This fall, Hesston College met the Mabee Foundation’s Challenge Grant, earning $750,000 and surpassing the $6 million mark for the Be Greater campaign.

The college reached the goal for the grant two months ahead of the deadline, and is planning for groundbreaking in early December. The campaign will provide improvements and additions to nursing and athletic facilities. Projected completion is September 2019.

The $6 million price tag for the renovation/building projects for nursing and athletics was quoted about four years ago, and since that time, an improved economy and inflation has increased the overall total. An additional $200,000 remains to ensure that the original scope of the project is fulfilled.

On the endowed scholarship side of the campaign, generous donors helped the college reach the $800,000 goal that will create the opportunity for the first ever full scholarship to potentially be awarded for the 2019-20 academic year.
