Director’s Notes

This may be one of the more interestingly formatted musicals I have directed. There was something about it, though, that drew me in. Each tale is wildly different in tone, but they all have an overarching theme of choice and consequence, and while the musical is called The Apple Tree, the tree is never mentioned beyond the first story. You may notice the apple is consumed throughout at a point where decisions lead to a fall…one character eats before they even speak! Some learn from this bite and some do not. No matter how the characters differ from story to story, they are all seeking their happily-ever-after.
