A new field and a new conference awaits Lark women’s soccer

Hesston College women's soccer team

It is a new year, with a new team, on a brand new field. The Larks veteran coaching staff is led by Head Coach Bryan Kehr in his ninth year and Megan Schrock in her seventh season as assistant coach. This experience versus inexperience, new versus old, will be a trend for the 2018 campaign. As of this school year, Hesston College is the newest member of the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCAA). However, for the soccer programs, this does not look very different as far as schedule and competition.

“Overall we are an inexperienced group,” said Coach Kehr, “but the team has a positive attitude and is improving quickly.” Two key returners are sophomores Miya Gonda and Kassandra Ayala. A freshman to watch on this year’s team is defender Sarah Keck who played in the Kansas High School State soccer tournament as a senior.

The Larks open their season on Wednesday, August 29 at home under the lights at 7 p.m. They will begin their KJCCC schedule on Wednesday, September 5 at #14 Cloud County Community College.
