Roosevelt (Texas) High grad signs with Hesston

Karen Cantu signs to play soccer for Hesston CollegeKaren Cantu, a mid-fielder from Roosevelt High School in San Antonio, Texas, has signed a letter of intent to play soccer at Hesston College. Cantu becomes the fifth signee of the off-season for Hesston coach Bryan Kehr.

A three-sport athlete at Roosevelt High, Cantu participated in soccer, cross country and track. She was named team captain and a Scholar Athlete during her senior year in soccer.

Cantu attends Saint Monica’s Catholic Church, San Antonio.

“I am excited to have Karen join the team for many reasons,” Kehr said. “Karen is a strong attacking player that will be able to give us a left-footed service and finish from the left side. She excelled in the highly competitive San Antonio Northside high school district, and paired with her club soccer experience has faced quality competition, which will make for a smooth transition to our program. Karen is a very personable and intelligent young woman who I believe will excel in the academic environment of Hesston College.”

Cantu is the daughter of Oscar and Norma Cantu.
