The Hesston College women’s soccer team lost a 2-0 match to host Barton Community College on Tues, Aug. 30, putting Hesston’s record at 1-1.

Hesston nearly broke through in the fourth minute when Yolli Conner (Centennial, Colo.) came free for a breakaway, but her shot slid just right of the net. In the 25th minute Barton notched the game’s first goal and later scored just before intermission to claim a 2-0 lead.

Game time temperatures were near the 100-degree mark, with temperatures on the artificial turf registering at 128 degrees at game time. Barton ended the game with nine shots on goal to Hesston’s five. Both teams took two corner kicks. Amber Mayer (Wichita, Kan.) registered seven saves for the Larks.

Next up for Hesston is a road contest against Northeastern Oklahoma A&M (Miami, Okla.) on Sat., Sept. 3, beginning at 1 p.m.
