President’s Perspective: A New Season of Growth

Ross Peterson-VeatchGreetings,

Spring is in the air, a new season of growth and opportunity, and all of it full of hope for the future. This is a great reflection of actual life on campus and the growing excitement within students, faculty, staff and our community at large.

Yes, Hesston College has been through many changes just in the past few months, some of which were very painful. Some of it, however, brings new opportunities for which we are grateful, like an opportunity to grow our student body and our athletic teams to new levels, offering new four-year academic programs and industry partnerships that will set our graduates up
for success.

In fact, Hesston’s 1909 catalog says its goal was to equip students for being useful to the world. We’ve been doing that for over a century now and will continue to do so in new ways that are relevant to today’s world.

I’m inspired by the stories that follow, like that of an alumnus who embraced change in his own life through soccer and now uses it to minister to others, our current student who was willing to change her plans to pursue a different opportunity, and donors who generously give to the college so that future students can also experience the Christ-centered community and education that was so foundational to them.

Change is inevitable, and getting our eyes fixed on God’s provision and goodness through all of it will help us navigate the college toward a promising future. Part of that provision is the people we have here at Hesston College. The energy that our employees bring to the table, seeing them step up to do the work just because it needs to be done, is truly admirable, and I couldn’t be more appreciative of each person’s contributions.

I am thankful to be doing what we’re doing here at Hesston College – having a positive impact on students and their families – so that they become great leaders for the future.

Sincerely,

Dr. Ross Peterson-Veatch
Interim President
