Larks back to winning ways with 4-1 rout at Indy

The Hesston College women’s soccer team notched an impressive 4-1 road win at Independence (Kan.) CC on Friday, Sept. 28, breaking a three-game skid and improving its season record to 5-6.

Following freshman Kelli Christenson’s (Dayton, Ore.) goal in the 28th minute that broke a scoreless tie, Larks’ midfielder Jasmin Yoder (Sweet Home, Ore.), also a freshman, scored just two minutes later to give the Maroon and White a little breathing room. A penalty kick by Tori Wheeler (Wichita, Kan.) just after intermission pushed the lead to 3-0.

For the game, Hesston held a commanding advantage in shots-on-goal (17-5) and corner kicks (7-3).

The Larks look to climb back to the .500 mark when they host Kansas Wesleyan University JV (Salina, Kan) on Sunday, Sept. 30, beginning at 3 p.m.
