Women’s flag football named national runners-up for the second time

The women’s flag football team finished their second season in 2024 with a 12-2 overall record and made their second consecutive trip to the NJCAA Invitational in Atlanta, Ga., last May. The Larks once again faced Florida Gateway College for the championship and finished as national runners-up for the second time.

Disc golf teams finished strong at nationals

The disc golf club sent three teams, two women’s doubles teams and one men’s team of four, to the national tournament in Rock Hill, S.C. from April 3 to 6, 2024. The men’s team finished tied for eighth in Division II in a field of 80 teams. One women’s team finished 14th while the other placed 20th in a field of 28 teams.

Men’s golf produces two NJCAA All-Americans

For the first time in program history, the men’s golf team qualified as a team for the NJCAA DII National Championship held in Joplin, Mo., from May 21 to 24, 2024. The Larks finished eighth as a team and saw two individuals place in the top 15 out of a field of 131 to achieve All-American status. Mason White ’24, then sophomore, finished eighth overall to earn first team honors while Bradin Stahl ’24, then sophomore, finished 12th and earned second team status. As a team, the Larks were awarded the 2024 Sportsmanship Award.

Spring 2025 Highlights

Hesston’s newest sports produce early success

In their first seasons of competition, Hesston College’s esports and powerlifting programs have already made major splashes at the regional and national levels.

Powerlifting competed at two meets this season and among five lifters, they produced seven top finishes, earning a trip to compete at Powerlifting America University Nationals in Atlanta, Ga. The men’s equipped team, comprised of freshmen Corbyn Oden ’26 and Joshua Gaitan ’26, won the equipped team national championship, and Oden was voted the most outstanding equipped lifter of the entire meet. Sophomore Rylee Weishaupt ’25 also earned Hesston’s first ever all-American honors with a fourth-place finish.

Esports fielded teams in five games in their first season — Fortnite, Overwatch, Rocket League, Super Smash Bros. and Valorant. During the fall semester, Rocket League and Valorant teams won their division in the Playfly League to qualify for the national championships this spring.
