Passing on the gift of the Hesston Experience through scholarship funds is a tremendous blessing to many Larks who might not otherwise gain the experience for themselves. Here’s a glimpse of what these scholarships mean through the eyes of two recipients.

“I am truly blessed to be given the opportunity to continue my education at Hesston College (Go Larks!) and achieve my long-term goal of a business degree, a goal I’ve been pursuing since the age of 13,” Hicks shared in a letter to the donors’ family. “I’m grateful and will never forget how amazing and caring the Hesston community is, and I’m happy to say that I’m part of it.”
Hicks went on to highlight the positive impression the donors specifically made on him.
“John and Esther Hodel are the prime example of how anything can be accomplished. They are the true inspiration and I’m blessed to be given the opportunity to show that same inspiration throughout this scholarship and my accomplishments as well,” wrote Hicks. “John Hodel was a farm owner and manager. I hope that one day I can also become an owner so I have the most capability of providing for anyone in need. Once again, I’m blessed to have your financial assistance!”

“There is no amount of words that could express my gratitude and appreciation,” she shared in a letter to donors Connie and Doug ’62 Dorsing. “Hesston College has such a supportive and caring environment that I love to be a part of. I’m grateful that I’m able to stay a part of it.”
Romero thought her time at Hesston would end after a knee injury ended her soccer season and a parent’s job loss hindered available finances. That all changed when Romero was awarded a scholarship, allowing her to stay another semester.
“I am now able to come back next semester and not only continue my education but also be able to get my first minutes as a college athlete,” Romero said in the letter. “Because of you guys, I am able to accomplish my dreams. You’re truly a gift from God. Not only will I continue to push myself in my academics and sports for God and my family, but now for yours as well.”
