Denver, Colo.—It was while touring Bosnia in 2002 that baritone Anthony Brown came face to face with the extraordinary healing power of music. He was singing to an audience of Croats and Serbs, Muslims, Christians and Jews, and as he closed his concert with a rendition of the African American spiritual, “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands,” the assembled rose to their feet and sang as one. It was a moment he will never forget.

The following year, Brown founded the Peacing It Together Foundation and continues to travel the world singing his songs of peace and the oneness of humanity. In places like Northern Ireland, Uganda, Vietnam, Korea, Russia, and many other locales, Brown witnesses time and again the healing power of music. This year in service to his cause, his travels will take him to China, the Philippines and Cuba.

To support his work, and that of his Peacing It Together Foundation, a dozen or so of his musician friends from Denver’s Mennonite community will come together on Sunday March 18th at 4 pm, for a concert that’s being called “Each Other’s Light” and will feature singer/songwriters Jan Garrett and JD Martin, Vern Rempel, Herm Weaver, Andi Hagerup and Jenny Thompson, Charlie Ferguson, and a choir lead by Arlen Hershberger. Brown will also appear in the lineup. Musical selections promise to cover a wide range, from spirituals to the blues, country and folk.

“I have seen first hand that music can make a positive difference in the world,” says Brown. “And if we can see each other’s light, we can be each other’s light. My Denver friends are proving that’s true.”
