Athletic Training

The Athletic Training Room is located inside Yost Center – in the northwest corner of the gymnasium.

Visiting Team Information

Athletic Trainers traveling with their teams are welcome to use the Yost Center Athletic Training facility. Modalities available include ultrasound, electrical stimulation, hot packs and ice. If your team is traveling without an athletic trainer, no treatments will be given unless prior arrangements have been made. If your team needs taping or other preventative measures, we ask that it is completed at least 30-45 minutes before the start of the game, preferably 15-20 minutes before your team begins to warm-up. All taping supplies must be furnished by the visiting team. Additionally, water, ice and cups will be available during the contest.

General Information

It is imperative that student-athletes familiarize themselves with athletic training policies and procedures for intercollegiate athletics. It is the function of the certified athletic trainer (ATC) to encourage injury prevention, to care for those injuries that do occur and to work toward a complete recovery from the injury through treatment and rehabilitation. Failure to comply with the policies and procedures may result in incomplete recovery, unnecessary medical costs and/or inadequate treatment for the injury. The Athletic Training staff coordinate the day-to-day supervision of all aspects of the health care services, and matters of injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation and medical referral should be channeled through them. Student-athletes should immediately report all injuries to the athletic training staff. If a student-athlete has been referred for medical care of has time-loss from practice and/or games, then he/she must be “medically cleared” to resume participation. Clearance for practice and games is the prerogative of the athletic training staff, not the coaches.

Athletic Physical form Please print this off, take it to your physician (M.D. or D.O.) when you go to get your physical and send to Hesston College, c/o Dan Sigley or your coach. Please have your physical complete between May 1 and July 12. This allows time for any necessary follow-up screening and testing, if referred and prescribed by your physician. Failure to complete follow-up testing as stated on your physical and required by your physician will result in NO athletic participation until that is completed.
