Nursing Professor

Hesston College seeks applicants for a full-time Nursing Professor to begin August 2022. This position is a nine-month work agreement, and reports to the Director of Nursing Education. The primary responsibility of this position is to teach nursing courses which include, fundamentals of nursing (theory & skills), medical/surgical nursing (theory & skills) and clinical supervision in medical/surgical units. Teaching obligations will include the development of new courses, creating relationships with students and advocating for student success while upholding program standards.

Expectations of Nursing Faculty:

  • Teach in person classes to include fundamentals of nursing (theory & skills), medical/surgical nursing (theory & skills) and clinical supervision in medical/surgical units, teaching a regular load of classes each semester, per the faculty handbook. This includes selecting textbooks and developing syllabi, course materials and Moodle (learning management system) content, etc.
  • Develop new and assess current courses for a concept-based curriculum with an integration of the competency-based components as outlined by the Essentials of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, while ensuring that HLC, CCNE and KSBN standards are met.
  • Affirm the mission of Hesston College and of the Hesston College School of Nursing.
  • Place high value on relationship with students, advocate for student success and care for well-being of student while upholding academic and clinical standards established by the Hesston College nursing program and the nursing profession.
  • Actively participate in nursing faculty meetings, college faculty meetings and serve on college committees as appointed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing Education.


  • License to practice professional nursing in the state of Kansas required.
  • Master’s degree in nursing required.
  • Previous teaching experience in a nursing program preferred.
  • Demonstration of nursing knowledge and clinical practice.
  • Meets the Nursing Technical Standards of the program.
  • Communication and leadership skills that create a supportive teaching/learning environment.
