Hesston College seeks candidates for Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The CFO reports to the president and oversees the management of Hesston College’s overall financial position, including debt and asset management, annual budget and financial planning and forecasting. The CFO holds primary responsibility for data management and analysis as it relates to the institutions strategic direction. This position also provides strategic direction and leadership for the support services of Hesston College (Business Office, Human Resources, Information Technology, Campus Facilities, Dining Services and the Bookstore). Primary responsibilities include:
- Oversees the management of Hesston College’s overall financial position including debt and asset management (cash, investments and property), risk management, annual budget and financial planning
- Maintains and develops sustainable practices and long-term strategic models that allow Hesston College to remain on solid financial footing
- Assists president in driving the strategic planning process for the overall organization
- Leads the annual budget planning and implementation process based on direction and priorities established by the president and board of directors
- Oversees the college’s investment strategies (cash, endowment, retirement)
- Develops and monitors financial indicators for the college as a whole, reporting on these quarterly, annually or as appropriate (e.g. institutional dashboard)
- Develops and monitors fiscal policies for the college
- Is the primary decision maker for college’s health insurance pool through Mennonite Educator’s Benefit Plan (participate in meetings with entire pool twice per year)
- Oversees relationship with and the work of independent auditors
- Manages the college’s capital investment strategies to promote operating stability, foresight and innovation without undue expense/risk
- Oversees larger capital projects, ensuring appropriate management of institutional resources
- Manages Hesston College’s debts and assets to ensure an appropriate return for risk taken
- Leads external relationships with key financial vendors (banks, architects, contractors and other financial institutions)
Preferred background includes a master’s degree in finance or a related field and five (5) years of experience in a financial position that shows progression in setting and managing budgets, debts/assets management, creating/analyzing financial reports and forecasting. Minimum qualifications for this position include a bachelor’s degree in finance or a related field and at least five (5) years in a position of relevant experience.
