Director of Information Technology

Hesston College seeks applicants for Director of Information Technology. This is a full-time 12-month role with full benefits and will report to the Chief Financial Officer. The IT Director will lead all aspects of campus-wide information technology, including departmental visioning, management of staff, systems security and oversight, policy development and compliance, technology procurement, budget management, and engaging the broader institution as the key technology liaison.

Hesston College seeks candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or related field
  • 6+ years management experience in an IT environment
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, verbal and written communication skills, and proven ability to effectively interact with diverse groups of individuals
  • Solid experience in departmental visioning and planning
  • Awareness and understanding of emerging technologies and their potential application within higher education
  • Proven experience with budget planning and technology procurement
  • Strong project management experience with the ability to implement system-wide initiatives
  • Knowledge and experience is desired in database management systems, networking, programming language(s), or software and hardware technologies appropriate for the higher education setting

Preferred technical qualifications:

  • Certifications and/or strong working knowledge of VMWare clusters and virtualization
  • Windows and Linux network server systems and user account management tools
  • Dell or Tegile SAN storage
  • Alcatel networks and topologies
  • Helpdesk and document management tools.
