Vocal Leadership Workshop

Hesston College Vocal Leadership Workshop presented by Sunflower Performing Arts

High School ensembles are invited to the afternoon workshop and evening concert, Our Song, Our Story: The New Generation of Black Voices, presented by Sunflower Performing Arts.

Students may submit a video audition to russell.adrian@hesston.edu by Friday, January 13, to be selected to perform in the vocal masterclass, led by guest artists Damien Sneed and Jacqueline Echols. Audition videos should be a performance of the piece the student would sing in masterclass.


High School provides music for each student (The Storm Is Passing Over, arr. Barbara W. Baker)
Supper provided by Hesston College Performing Arts
Complimentary tickets (2 adults and registered student tickets) provided by Sunflower Performing Arts


Registration capacity is for 140 students reserved on a first come, first served basis. Email Russell Adrian at russell.adrian@hesston.edu to register or for questions regarding the event.

2:15 p.m. – Welcome
2:20 to 2:45 p.m. – The life of Marian Anderson
3 to 4 p.m. – Vocal Masterclass with Our Song, Our Story
4 to 4:15 p.m. – break
4:15 to 5:30 p.m. – Rehearsal: The Storm Is Passing Over, and selections by rote
5:30 p.m. – Mini-performance by Bel Canto Singers and final workshop performance
6 p.m. – supper
6:40 p.m. – doors open
7 p.m. – Our Song, Our Story: The New Generation of Black Voices concert
