Lark track and field athletes prepare for a busy season

Seth Rudeen competes in triple jump at the Friends meet last spring.

The 2019 Hesston College track and field team plans to build on individual successes. The expectation is to set personal bests.

“Practice is going very well,” said Head Coach Eric Schwab. “Everyone’s fitness is rising and we have had some excellent workouts.”

Seth Rudeen is the lone sophomore on the squad. Rudeen competes in the triple jump and could score for the Larks at the conference championships in El Dorado, Kan., in May.

Several freshman are coming off quality fall cross country campaigns and leading the way is Levi Geyer.

“I expect each athlete to show improvement over what they have done in the past,” said Schwab. “I believe we will see several lifetime best performances this spring.”

The roster includes Sam Blosser, Jaden Lais and Brian Martinez in addition to Rudeen and Geyer on the men’s side. Jessica Buckwalter is the lone athlete competing on the women’s team.

The Larks will open their season at Southwestern College’s invitational in Winfield, Kan., March 7. They will compete all over the state throughout the spring and close with the Jayhawk Conference Championships on May 2-4.
