A new season is about to begin for the Hesston College tennis team. Interim Head Coach Michael Oyer recently took the reins and has been working and building the team. “Over the last few weeks, there has been some really positive growth,” said Coach Oyer. “They are showing togetherness; the team is helping each other.”
On the men’s side, returning sophomores are stepping into their roles of leadership and motivation. This should provide a fantastic base for growth and team success. The chemistry in training can be seen in practice and on the doubles court with pairs Nadeem Jaber and Garrett Roth as well as Curtis Oesch and Jeff Kauffman.
The women’s side, on the other hand is relatively young and inexperienced at the college level. However, the talent level is high and deep, giving way to hope for quality and success. “The freshman are ready to step up,” said Oyer. “For both teams we have good season expectations. I have a good feeling we are going to win some big matches.”
The Larks will start their spring season at Kansas Wesleyan University on Wednesday, February 28. They will then travel to Friends University and Barton Community College before hosting Bethel College on Monday, March 5.
