Larks defeat Eagles

Down 39-41 at halftime, the men’s basketball team put in a solid second half to beat the Eagles of Rhema Bible College 89-78. The win moves the Larks to 11-4 and kicks off the second half of the season on the right note.

The first game after break was a back and forth affair with three ties and seven lead changes. But it was not until the 2nd half that the Larks really started getting into gear. A key point in the second half came with 7:24 left in the half. Aubrey Johnson hit a three to put Hesston College up 65-62. The Larks did not relinquish the lead.

Coye Campbell led the way, scoring 23. Starters Aubrey Johnson (11) and Zac Neely (13) joined Campell as starters with double digits and Cal Hartley (22) and Braden Handcock (10) came off the bench giving the Larks five players with double digit scoring. Campbell and Johnson also shared the basketball well with seven assists each.

The Larks play at McPherson tonight and have two games next week before kicking off NJCAA Region VI against Fort Scott CC on Wednesday, January 24.
