In a tale of two halves, the Lark men’s basketball team weathered the Storm as Southeast Community College made it a game late in the Yost Center. The Larks held on to win 98-96. The Larks get off to a quick start, going up 8-0 in the first 1:30. Hesston hit 7-15 from behind the arc the rest of the half. This allowed Hesston College to take a 53-39 lead into the half.
The Storm raged back and overtake the Larks 96-94 with just 24 seconds left in the game. Grant Harding needed just three seconds to tie the game back up for the Larks, taking it to the hoop for a reverse layup. After Harding partially blocked a three-point attempt from Southeast, Coye Campbell snatched the rebound. Slashing through the Storm defense Campbell finished at the rim, giving the Larks a 98-96 lead with just 2.7 seconds left in the game. The Storm were able to inbound the ball and actually got a good look from behind the arc but missed the chance to win the game.
Campbell’s game winning basket capped a tremendous night for him as he scored 44 points and had 10 rebounds. Harding also had a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds. Zac Neely added 17 points for the Larks and Cal Hartley came off the bench to score 10.
The Larks will be home on Wednesday, November 15, against Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley at 8 p.m., and will host Bethany JV on Friday, November 17 at 7 p.m. before going to Northern Oklahoma College-Enid on Saturday, November 18.
