Down 29-43 at halftime to the Storm of Southeast Community College the Larks looked out of the contest on Saturday. However, a dynamite start to the second half saw Hesston take the lead before the 10 minute mark. The Larks never relinquished the lead, winning 89-81.
“We defended so well in the second half that we gave ourselves a chance to win after our unfocused and sluggish start,” said Head Coach Dustin Gaylon. “We went 22-28 from the free throw line, 18-21 in the second half and that really allowed us to seal the game.”
Zac Neely had a double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds. Grant Harding had 16 points and 10 boards for a double-double of his own. Four other Larks scored in double digits, Aubrey Johnson (15), Shannon Cordes (10), Coye Campbell (10) and Cal Hartley who also added five assists. “We had SIX guys in double digits,” said Coach Gaylon, with his normal exuberance.
The win moves the Larks to 7-3 on the year. They travel to Rhema Bible College on Tuesday, November 28, before returning for a home game against Louisiana Christian School on Thursday, November 30.
