Hesston College men’s tennis traveled to Baldwin City over the weekend, losing 8-1 to the Baker University Wildcats.
Freshman Nadeem Jaber (Jaljulia, Israel) was strong picking up the comfortable win for the Larks in #1 singles: 6-3, 6-0 over Baker’s Blake Barnard. Sophomore Riley Kingsley (Newton, Kan) and freshman Garrett Roth (Hesston, Kan.) played well but came up short 8-5 in doubles play. Roth also narrowly lost in singles; 6-4, 6-3, as coach Joost came away with positives in the loss.
“We lost 9-0 to them (Baker) in the fall, our scores improved dramatically today. We are getting much better,”” Head coach Chance Joost commented.
Next – men’s tennis will look to regroup before playing host to Central Christian (Kan.) College on Thursday, April 6. Matches will get underway at 4 p.m.
