Kingsley and Jaber lead Larks past Threshers

Sophomore Riley Kingsley (North Newton, Kan.) and freshman Nadeem Jaber (Jaljulia, Israel) each picked up singles wins to help propel the Hesston College men’s tennis team past the Bethel College Threshers 7-2 for Hesston’s first win of the season.

Kingsley (#1 singles) won in two sets 6-3, 6-3 over Gabe Johnson, and Jaber cruised 6-2, 6-0 over Ryan LaCombe at #2. Sophomore Josiah Borst (Becker, Minn.) and freshman Garrett Roth (Hesston, Kan.) also won in singles play. &ldquo:We played really well today. We’re definitely feeling very confident right now heading into the Dallas Baptist match. We keep improving and that’s the most important thing. The boys did well.” Head Coach Chance Joost commented after earning his first win as collegiate head coach. Kingsley/Roth, Jaber/Kremier and Oesch/Borst all were victorious in doubles competition. “We haven’t won three doubles matches in a long time.”

Tennis will look to build on their strong effort vs. Bethel, as NCAA DII Dallas Baptist University comes to town on Friday March 10. Match begins at 9 a.m. at Hesston College.
