Volleyball sweeps home triangular

Hesston College Larks volleyball began the day impressively with a commanding 3-0 victory over the visiting Clarendon (Texas) Bulldogs 25-17, 25-17, 25-16. Clarendon, a team the Larks faced last month in Texas, won the earlier match 3-1 in August.

Freshman Jessica Aguilar (Brownsville, Texas) lifted the Larks with five aces and sophomore Erin Brubaker (Goessel, Kan.) contributed three of the team’s 12 total aces. Freshman Sierrah Long (Highland, Calif.) led the attack with eight kills to help the Larks to victory.

In their second match, the Larks again got some payback, as Hesston College now (8-8) swept Pratt CC 3-0 on set scores of 25-21, 25-20, 25-21. The Beavers defeated the Larks 2-1 at the Vernon (Texas) tournament.

Sierrah Long and local standout sophomore Jessanna Nebel (Hesston, Kan.) both contributed 10 kills. Nebel also finished with an impressive 26 assists. The Saturday wins even the Larks’ record at 8-8.
