Larks survive scare from Kansas City Kansas on sophomore day

The Hesston College men’s basketball team got by Kansas City Kansas CC 61-60 on Saturday, Feb. 22 on its annual sophomore recognition game.

Both teams battled back-and-forth through a tight second half before Darrion Martin’s (Houston) pair of free throws with 30 seconds left proved the difference for Hesston. Martin finished with 23 points and nine rebounds – both team highs – while Malcolm Mann (Plano, Texas) added 12 points.

Now 10-18 (5-4 in Region VI), the Larks travel to Highland (Kan.) CC for a 7 p.m. tip on Wednesday, Feb. 26.
