Hesston College Volleyball adds Shickley (Neb.) High senior

Christy Swartzendruber signs to play volleyball at Hesston College.

Hesston College volleyball coach Jessica Cleveland announces Christy Swartzendruber, a 5’7” outside hitter from Shickley (Neb.) High School, as the newest addition to the Larks 2014 recruiting class.

A two-time Omaha World Herald first-team all-state and first-team all-conference player, Swartzendruber recorded 374 kills and 630 digs as a senior, leading a consolidated Bruning-Davenport-Shickley team to a 30-4 record and state tournament runner-up finish.

“I’m happy to add Christy to the 2014 roster,” Cleveland said. “Her high school team took second in state so I know she will adjust to the college level fast. She’s an athletic outside hitter who knows how to put a ball away.”

Swartzendruber is the daughter of Will and Marge, a 1980 Hesston graduate, Swartzendruber, Shickley. She attends Salem Mennonite Church, Shickley, and is active in the youth group and youth band there.
