Hesston starts second half with home win

The Hesston College men’s basketball team started fast in its return to the court following winter break as the Larks downed visiting Rhema Bible Training Center (Broken Arrow, Okla.) 88-75 on Saturday, Jan. 8.

Five Hesston players reached double figures, led by freshman standout Darrion Martin’s (Houston) game-high 20. Tra Smoot (East St. Louis, Ill.) added 15 and Jordan Tanner scored 14 (Houston). Malcolm Mann (Plano, Texas) scored 11 while Beau Palmer (Oklahoma City) added 10.

Hesston led 47-33 at half and never trailed after the intermission.

Now 3-13 on the year, Hesston hits the road for a 8 p.m. game at Tabor College JV (Hillsboro) on Tuesday, Jan. 14.
