Hesston College Men’s Soccer opens recruiting class with local signing

Josh Benavides signs to play soccer for Hesston College.

Hesston College men’s soccer coach Michael Armstrong announces Josh Benavides, a defender/midfielder from Maize High School, Wichita, Kan., as the first addition to the Larks 2014 recruiting class.

A two-year letter winner for Maize High soccer, Benavides was a part of the Maize team that captured a regional title in 2011.

“I’m looking forward to having Josh be a vital part of the team,” Armstrong said. “He brings vision and passing ability needed out of a midfield role as well as a great work ethic and solid leadership skills. I can’t wait to see these qualities impact our squad.”

An honor roll student and Hesston College dean’s scholarship recipient, Benavides will study psychology at Hesston. He attends St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Wichita.

Benavides is the son of Walter and Patricia Benavides, Wichita.
