Baseball improves to 23-14 with home sweep

The Hesston College baseball team swept a home double header versus York (Neb.) College JV on Sunday, April 28, improving its record to 23-14.

Brandon Kutrubs (Brunswick, Ohio) tossed a one-hit shutout in the opener, walking two and striking out seven as Hesston won 3-0. Cory Kerbs (Nevada, Mo.) and Seth Davenport (McPherson , Kan.) knocked in runs for the Larks.

In the second game, Hesston sophomore Jordan Gray (Shreve, Ohio) followed Kutrubs’ gem with a complete-game shutout of his own, allowing five hits and no walks over seven frames in the Larks’ 2-0 win.

Cody King (Andale, Kan.) had two hits, while Kerbs and Steven Gonzalez (McPherson, Kan.) plated Hesston’s runs. As a team, Hesston stole seven bases.
