The Hesston College women’s soccer team raced to an early 3-0 lead and held off a late charge to record a key 3-2 win on the road against Independence (Kan.) Community College.

Goals by Colby Troyer (Waterford, Pa.) and Kelsey Schrock (Wellman, Iowa) gave the Larks a 2-0 lead heading into the break. Yolanda Aasheim-Connor (Centennial, Colo.) extended the lead to 3-0 just seconds into the second half off a Troyer assist.

Independence would not go quietly, as they scored twice in a five minute span to make it a 3-2 game. The Hesston defense clamped down the rest of the way to earn the win.
