Cowley County Community College (Arkansas City, Kan.) wasted little time setting the tone in Saturday’s league game at Hesston College, jumping all over the Larks with four first half goals on their way to a 5-1 win.
Hesston freshman Dylan Simmons (Rose Hill, Kan.) found the back of the net with less than four minutes to play to get the Larks on the board. Simmons finished with three shots-on-goal.
“A very slow start is what did us in,” commented head coach Kurt Hostetler. “We made several defensive errors early in the game and they were able to capitalize on them. We did better the second half, cleaned up our mistakes and finally netted one ourselves. We had several opportunities throughout the game but weren’t able to place it around their keeper.”
The Larks welcome Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College to the Hesston campus on Tuesday, October 13, for a 7:30 p.m. match.
