After surrendering an early goal to Johnson County Community College (Overland Park, Kan.), the Hesston College men’s soccer team played even with Cavaliers throughout the rest of the first half and trailed 1-0 at the break. JC scored four times in the second half however, to break open the match and win 5-0.
Paul Schrag (Hesston, Kan.) recorded two of the three shots on goal for the Larks, while Andy Miller (Freeman, SD) notched the other. Freshman keeper Reid O’Brien (Hays, Kan.) kept the Larks in the game early with several nice saves, finishing with 12 stops.
“We didn’t play with much intensity in the first half, but Reid made a couple of good saves to keep us in it,” said head ocach Kurt Hostetler. “We picked up our intensity in the second half, which was good to see. I don’t think the score accurately reflects the type of game that is was.“
Hesston, now 1-6 on the season, looks to win back in the win column with a home game versus Kansas Wesleyan University JV (Salina, Kan.) on Friday night, September 26, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
