Schroeder announces signing of defensive specialist for ’09 class

Allison Martin

Hesston College volleyball coach Vanessa Schroeder has announced the signing of 5’4″ Allison Martin, a defensive specialist from WACO High School in Wayland, Iowa.

A letter-winner in volleyball, softball, and track, Martin received second team all-conference honors following her senior year.

Off the court, Martin is a well-rounded student. She was named to the honor roll, the National Honor Society, and student council during her time at WACO. Other awards given to Martin include the American Citizenship Award and the President’s Education Award.

Martin is a member of the Bethel Mennonite Church, Wayland, where she is active in the youth group and the worship band. She has also participated in the Crooked Creek 4-H club.

“Allison is an aggressive defender and server,” said Schroeder. “Her quickness allows her to cover the floor well. A bright young lady, Allison will learn our system quickly and give us flexibility in our defending positions.”

Martin is the daughter of Calvin and Karalee Martin, Crawfordsville.
