As the regular season slipped into the past, reality slammed into the present and ripped out the hearts of the Hesston faithful and stomped on them. In a game that so epitomized the season, the Larks came bolting out of the gate and controlled the pace and action of the game for most of the first half. Pietro Ramelli, Yusuke Oki, Ogi Marjonovic, and Carlos Padilla provided constant pressure on the offensive end, producing chance after chance while the visiting team sat back, stunned. Oki displayed, in this coach's opinion, his best effort of the season. Ramelli, likewise played perhaps the best 30 minutes of his season to begin the game leading to an overwhelming advantage in shots on goal.
All indications were that a home goal was imminent when the party was crashed with an upper ninety delivery from the opponent. Pushing toward a tying goal the defense gave up another shot to the corner of the frame as GK Ben Baker watched helplessly.
Hesston led in every offensive category but the score as chance after chance got away. The Larks resume the season in the first round of the Regional tournament on Tuesday next week.
