Coach Nussbaum's Comments
Much of the first half of Saturday's game the Larks played as if they never came off the van, or at least wished they hadn't. Playing into a chilling wind and less than comfortable temperatures, the Hesston eleven fought hard all game and came away with a respectable loss considering it was an improvement over the first meeting of the season that resulted in a 6-0 loss. This time around Hesston threatened on several occasions and limited the home team to less than quality chances.
Having much improved performances were Yusuke Oki who narrowly missed a goal in the second half on a left footed strike from 20 yards and Greg Myers who is nearly at full strength after returning from a severe ankle sprain. Also playing well in the second half and controlling much of the air balls was Oscar Mendoza who awoke from the first half to lead the team to more inspired play.
Hesston is in action at home on Tuesday versus Allen Co. and travels to WSU on Thursday evening.
