Coach Sharp's Comments
Yes, that score is correct. This was a very long game that couldn't end soon enough. With two players, Moy Andrade and Angelo Sorboro, missing because of card suspensions and three players (Jeremy Leinbach, Nathan Clark and Jeff Heredia) missing because of injury, facing the nation's sixth ranked junior college was more than we could handle. Ogi Marjanovic was called out of the goal and onto the field for the first half. Ben Baker had a rough first half allowing a couple of goals that he normally would have smothered. With three goals being scored in the first 20 minutes, the Larks appeared to give up, but Johnson did not. JC poured it on relentlessly, scoring six goals in the first half alone.
Ogi went back into goal for the second half but the onslaught continued. As was in the case in the first half, JC seemed to just slice their way through the Larks defense with far too much ease. The game seemed to last for an eternity. Johnson capped their scoring off with about two minutes left in the game to embarrass Hesston with an 11-0 loss. We'll look to put this game out of our minds and look to the next oppenent, Neosho County Community College on Thursday, Oct. 4th, at 3 p.m.
