Coach Sharp's Comments
Hesston dominated in possession of the ball the first half but did not dominate where it counts the most, on the scoreboard. HC managed to get on the board first with a free kick just outside the top of the box. A nice touch by Til Maddox gave Mike Daly the clear path he needed to pound home the game's first goal just inside the left post. Rhema was able to capatilize on HC's first big defensive miscue when a high bouncing ball found it's way past the Larks defense and onto the foot of Soares. Soares neatly avoided a tackle and slotted a nice shot past Marjanovic. The next two goals for Rhema were also allowed by defensive blunders to give RBC a 3-1 lead. HC managed to climb to within one when Daly was brought down in the box for the game's only penalty kick. Maddox put a nicely placed shot past the keeper to bring the score to 3-2 just before the half.
Hesston came out strong to start the second half and was able to tie the score at three just three minutes into the game. Ramelli put a nice cross into the box where Sorboro was able to finish it off. The strong start for the Larks was only that a start. HC seemed to wear down as the game progressed. Rhema managed two more goals late in the second half slicing through a porous HC defense. HC had some more chances in the second half but to no avail. The effort was there for about 55 minutes but unfortunately soccer games last 90 minutes. The passing has greatly improved over the season and some players are really making progress. If Hesston can play solid defense and give 100 percent for 90 minutes then the Larks should start getting some more wins. Moy Andrade was unable to play because of a previous red card and his presence was sourly missed. The Larks next regular home game is Thursday Sept 29 7:30 p.m. against Region VI opponent Kansas City Kansas Community College.
