Coach Sharp's Comments
Hesston dominated play for the better part of the first half. Hesston's first goal came just after an HC corner kick. After Neosho failed to clear the ball, Arsene sent a cross in from the right side near the end line that found Angelo in good position for an easy header into the net.
Neosho came out in the second half with more determination than the Larks. They capitalized on an early opportunity to tie the game at one only three minutes into the half. Hesston's play gradually picked up and they were able to avoid some good attacks by NC. Neosho put a couple of dangerous chances off the crossbar. The score remained tied until Andrade was able to steal a poor pass out of the back by Neosho and blast a shot past the NC goalkeeper with just 17 minutes remaining in the contest.
The game looked well in hand until NC was awarded a penalty kick with just under two minutes remaining. However, instead of overtime HC held on for the win as NC put the penalty kick well wide of the goal.
The win improved the Larks record to 2-3 on the season and 1-2 in Region VI play.
