Coach's Summary: Well, Barton County Community College isn’t ranked 14th in the nation for nothin’. This game was bad news for Hesston from the start. “We tried to take a conservative approach. We were just trying to defend our half and then look to counterattack. But this is a style of play that we haven’t really practiced much. So the game plan was my (Coach Sharp) mistake. The players looked beat from the very beginning. I think we went into the game with the wrong attitude. So I as coach have to take most of the blame for how poorly we played. I didn’t have our team properly prepared.”
Barton County dominated possession and got on the score sheet early and often. “Barton has a very good team. They play well together and they are very disciplined defensively. Their forwards are extremely quick and skilled. This will be the team to beat in our Region along with Johnson County probably.” Barton County improved to 3–0 in regional play with wins over Cloud County (3-1) and Kansas City Kansas (6-1) and overall record of 5–2. Hesston drops to 2–2 overall and 0-2 in regional play. Hesston’s next match will be home against regional opponent Kansas City Kansas on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
