Coach Sharp's Comments
Hesston College came out and played their best soccer to date during the first half of play. Pietro finished off a nice goal set up with a beautiful cross from the right side to Jeff Heredia who sent a diving header back into the goal box where a waiting Ramelli put the Larks up 1-0. Roughly 10 minutes later Troy Stutzman blasted a ball off of a rebound from 25 yards out just under the cross bar. It looked like HC might run away with the game but were unable to score any more goals in the first half.
The second half was much different. With the changing of the sides came a change of wind direction. Hesston was now playing against the wind instead of with the wind as they did the first half. BC used the wind to their advantage by pushing one more attacker up front in place of a fourth defender. The wind and new formation put the game in the Larks half for the better part of the second half. A questionable handball early in the second half gave BC goal on a penalty kick. More than 10 minutes later BC added another goal to knot the game at two. As the game came nearer to the end, HC was able to mount several strong attacks. However, it wasn't until about five minutes left in the game that Hesston was able to take the lead. Soboro led Daly with a ball down the left wing. Daly was able to juke two defenders and slot the ball past the keeper for the win. BC gave the Larks a good scare on what should have been an easy win, but everyone felt good about just being about to get that first W.
