In the most evenly matched game thus far in the season, the Larks found themselves snakebit just one minute into the game and surrendered an unlucky goal on the game's first shot. A low drive from 25 to 30 yards out was destined to be saved until the ball was inadvertently misdirected by a defender and wrong-footed the goalkeeper. Still staggering from the early hole, the defense fell asleep minutes later to surrender the second goal on the second shot. Both teams played nearly evenly for the remainder of the half as Barclay entered the break with a two goal lead. Hesston came out hungry the second half and applied much of the offensive pressure but couldn't find the net despite chances in front of the goal. Hesston dropped to 1-3 with the loss and next entertains Allen Co. on Tuesday, Sept. 5. Bethel visits Hesston on Thursday and then the Larks travel to Bethany College on Saturday the 9th.
**of note........Hesston's first game with Neosho Co. was reversed giving Hesston its first win of the season 1-0. Player ineligibility led to the Neosho forfeit.
