Five days after practices began the Hesston Larks showed the lack of preparation and depth playing the majority of the game with just eleven players. Despite giving up all three goals in the first 20 minutes, the defense remained resolute and held visiting Neosho for the final 70 minutes. Claiming much of the responsibility for the defensive effort was Freshman GK Chris Hignight who supplied highlight reel saves much to the frustration of Neosho Co. Hesston's best chance came in the dying moments of the first half with a free kick just outside the penalty area. Freshman Pietro Ramelli rammed his shot off the crossbar. In the second half Ramelli had a breakaway that produced a shot that sailed wide left. The learning process continues against powerful Cloud Co. at home on Tuesday evening followed by Sterling on Friday and Barclay on Saturday. All games are at home and are scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
