Observations:

The comments from the Visioneering Gatherings about "What We Do Best" had the highest number of comments around the theme of Providing Opportunities for Personal, Relational and Spiritual Growth (29%), with a very close second theme of Promoting Academic Excellence (28%). The remaining four themes, although individually not as large, are also significant representing 43% of the comments at the meetings.
At the fall Faculty/Staff retreat, similar themes emerged as the faculty and staff were asked the same questions. The theme of Personal Caring and Attention was mentioned most often with 27% of the notes in this area, which is similar to the highest area with the Visioneering Groups. Faculty/Staff's second highest theme was Employee Dedication to the Mission, which was mentioned in 22% of the notes. Academic Excellence was mentioned in 20% of the notes, which parallels the results of the Visioneering Groups.

Summary:

"What We do Best" at Hesston College included 29% of the comments on the theme of Providing Opportunities for Personal, Relational and Spiritual Growth and 28% around the theme of Promoting Academic Excellence. The remaining four themes also show the nature and character of the college and "What We Do Best."
