What Matters Most, according to off-campus constituents

     The comments have been summarized according to the following themes, which emerged as they were reviewed by Nelson Kilmer and Marilyn Unruh Flaming. They also analyzed the faculty/staff retreat data after the fall retreat. The themes have been put in order from the largest number of comments to the smallest.

Observations:

     The themes “That Matter Most” seemed to emerge and fit together as one analyzed the comments. The themes are more clearly understood in the context of the specific comments on the following pages.
     The highest number of comments received in regards to “What Matters Most” is the Relational Campus Community theme with comments such as the “Hesston Experience” and the “nurturing supportive environment”. Academic program excellence is second on the list and is followed closely by Religious Beliefs and Spiritual Growth. Church Relations and Dedicated Faculty themes are also important with 20 and 18 comments.
 

Summary:

     The comment in regards to “What Matters Most” at the Visioneering Gatherings can be summarized as Hesston College should be a Relational Campus Community that also provides Excellent Academic Programs where Religious Beliefs are addressed and Spiritual Growth takes place (62% notes). The connection of the college to the church is important and a dedicated faculty to deliver programs of academic excellence is also important (38% notes).
