We Propose--
Faculty and Staff Proposals about Communication and Decision Making
- We propose: To increase communication campus wide through "Take your
colleague to work day" - staff-to-staff/faculty-to-faculty in fall; faculty-to-staff in spring.
Because: The campus will benefit greatly from the "global" perspectives
coming together.
- We propose: A systematic method for fostering interdepartmental and
interpersonal exchange of awareness and understanding of positions, functions and activities.
Because: It will enhance sense of community, improve communication and
increase efficiency.
- We propose: Some mechanism or system for interdepartment communication,
which includes interaction that is significant, frequent and face-to-face, undergirded with intentional prayer.
Because: We would strengthen the things that matter most: community, sense of mission,
relationships, academic environment and industry.
- We propose: Improve internal communication by fostering openness and honesty
through creative methods of conflict resolutions.
Because: We sometimes avoid conflict at the expense of addressing real issues.
- We propose: Adopt a procedure to improve systemic communication.
Because: Improve job performance, empower, inform, lessen mistrust and
misunderstanding.
- We propose: To implement a concentrated effort to inform the campus
community at all levels using dept./div. reporting at least monthly.
Because: It promotes awareness, morale, checks and balances, community and
bottom-line trust.
- We propose: Develop clear processes for decision making.
Because: It helps us make good decisions, be purposeful in what we do, creates a more
successful environment for everyone and helps keep emotions out of decisions--gives a sense of security.
