Kylie Goodell, Inman, Kan., has signed a letter of intent to play softball and study at Hesston College.
Goodell, an outfielder on the Inman High School team, plans to study nursing at Hesston. She was a member of the Heart of America League all-academic team for two years.
During the 2008 season, the Teutons compiled an overall record of 18-3, with a league record of 11-1.
During the 2007 season, when Goodell was a junior, the Teutons finished as state runners-up in Class 2-1A. The team finished with a 17-9 record and a league record of 7-4.
Goodell made the honor roll all four years, and also attained outstanding academic achievement on the President's Education Awards Program all four years.
She received the Curriculum Completer Award, an award given by the high school to students who take extra courses that are more advanced. She also was named a Kansas Scholar and a Kansas State Scholar; she was eligible for these state awards since she was a Curriculum Completer.
Goodell has served as volunteer assistant at Holy Family Camp, an annual camp sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Wichita for developmentally disabled persons ages 10 and older.
According to Alaina Kaufman, Hesston College softball coach, “Kylie is a great girl who will add a lot to the personality of the team and will work hard at what I ask her to do. Her heart is evident in what she does and I know she will thrive at Hesston College.”
Goodell is the daughter of Greg and Rolli Goodell, Inman.
The Larks softball team competes in the National Junior College Athletic Association, Division III. Hesston College is a two-year liberal arts college owned by Mennonite Church USA.
