Julie Weaver, Hesston, Kan., has signed a letter of intent to play softball and study at Hesston College beginning in the fall.
Weaver, who played first base for the Swathers, lettered all four years in softball. She also played volleyball three years and basketball two years. And she earned three varsity letters in cheerleading, where she served as head cheerleader her senior year.
In the classroom, Weaver was on the school’s honor roll all four years. Her academic achievements earned her a Dean’s Scholarship at Hesston College.
Weaver also participated in choir four years, Hesston High Singers (a select choral group) for two years, and was in the school’s musical one year.
Elsewhere, Weaver served two years as student manager of “The Pit Stop,” a student-managed business at Hesston High School. She also actively participated in Whitestone Mennonite Church’s MYF (Mennonite Youth Fellowship), Hesston.
Larks softball coach Alaina Kaufman said Weaver is a great addition to the team. “Julie will be a hard worker at first and at the plate. I'm looking forward to seeing all she will add to our team,” she said.
Weaver is the daughter of Don and Pam Weaver, Hesston.
The Larks softball team competes in the National Junior College Athletic Association, Division III. Hesston College is a two-year liberal arts college owned by Mennonite Church USA.
