Men’s basketball player LaMont Russell receives two more post-season honors

      Sophomore LaMont Russell, Wichita, Kan., a 6'5" forward on the Hesston College men’s basketball team the past two years, has received two more post-season honors.
      This week, Russell was one of ten Division II, National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) men’s basketball players named as Third Team All-Americans.
      In addition, Russell will play in an all-star game organized by the American Basketball Coaches Association in Scottsdale, Ariz., Sunday, April 20. He is one of only 10 players in NJCAA Division II chosen to compete in this all-star contest. The Division II all-star team will take on a team comprised of 10 Division III all-stars. Russell flies to Phoenix Friday, April 18, for an evening banquet. The teams will practice Saturday, April 19, before playing Sunday afternoon.
      A month ago, Russell was named First Team All-Region VI.
      Earlier this year, Russell was selected co-player of the week in Division II (NJCAA) for the week ending Saturday, January 19.
      For the season, Russell averaged 17.5 points, 10.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. He also shot 59.5 percent from the floor.
      Russell played basketball at Wichita South High School. He is the son of Larry and Wanda Russell, Wichita.
      The Hesston College men's basketball team competes in Division II of the National Junior College Athletic Association.
      Located in south central Kansas, Hesston College is the two-year liberal arts college owned by Mennonite Church USA.
