Jessica Cleveland (Fourth Season)
Head Coach Jessica Cleveland, a Grand Island, Neb., native, played for the Larks from 2004 to 2005 under coach Vanessa Schroeder. She earned an associate degree in business from Hesston and a bachelor’s degree in health management with a minor in business administration from Friends University in Wichita, Kan., in 2008, where she also played two years of volleyball for the Falcons. Cleveland completed a master’s degree in exercise science from Wichita (Kan.) State University in 2010.
Upon graduating from Friends, Cleveland served as assistant volleyball coach and strength and conditioning coach for the school until 2009. In 2010 she served as graduate intern assistant volleyball coach with the University of Nebraska Kearney, a Division II volleyball power. Cleveland helped UNK to a 31-5 mark and a sweet sixteen appearance. UNK ended the year ranked fifth nationally in Division II.
In her first year (2011) at the helm of Hesston Volleyball, Cleveland quadrupled the Larks’ win total from the previous year. That year the team finished with the seventh-best grade point average in the nation among two-year schools. In 2013, Cleveland guided Hesston to a 19-14 record.
In addition to her college volleyball coaching experience, Cleveland established Vertical Impact Volleyball Club based out of Hesston. Previously, Cleveland was managing director of Redline Volleyball Club based out of Wichita.
