Coach Kristin Rhodes received an Associate’s Degree from Hesston College in 2001 and Bachelor’s Degree from Goshen College in 2003 majoring in psychology and a minoring in sociology/anthropology. She played college basketball and volleyball, earning Distinguished Academic All-American honors.
For one season she coached 8th grade volleyball at LaVille Jr/Sr High School (Ind.). She then served as the assistant coach at LaVille for a year and at Turner High School (Kan.) for two years. She also served as freshman girl’s basketball coach at LaVille and Turner for a total of three seasons. In between coaching at LaVille and Turner, she was the head basketball coach at Shawnee Mission (Kan.) Christian School, where the team won the MAACS National Tournament and received Team Sportsmanship honors. Kristin has also coached a high school club volleyball team with Shank You (Ind.) and a high school club basketball team with Berean (Kan.). The 2009 season is Kristin’s first season at Hesston College.
Coach Rhodes emphasizes becoming a better person as well as a better athlete. Respect, servant-leadership, communication, passion, intensity, and dedication are expected 100 percent of the time. She is intense on working on fundamentals and developing each athlete to her fullest potential.
Excellence in the classroom is expected to be the top priority of each athlete. In addition to becoming a solid student-athlete, Coach Rhodes encourages spiritual growth and understanding, a family atmosphere among the team, and a greater sense of connectedness to the Hesston College community.
